Email Lists, Bad For ROI

Posted on Dec 27, 2005

YourHost.com took on a project where a New client asked YourHost.com to send out 10k emails thay they paid lots of money for .

We researched both our customer and the company where they had purchased the list. We found that our Client was an ethical group. They had a real challange trying to find an ISP's or emailing house that actually wanted to send the emails out. The answer was always the same.

After some discussion with the client, we mutally agreed that the only way to purify this list was to send out a confirmation email asking permission to send information to them.

The Process -
YourHost.com highly recommeded using their branded MarketManager system to qualify the email list. The process was to create a custom "client-specific customized confirmation email to send out. This was actually a "Pre-Confirmation"

YourHost.com and it's alliance partners spent many man hours customizing the text or maximum success. The email sent was a double Opt-In one, using our Branded MarketManager system which the core of the syste is powered by Blue Hornet, a highly ethical and reputable company in the industry.

The Outcome - One would think that if our client purchased from a company that sold and rented targeted emails that one would expect to retain more than 25 out of 10,000 carefully sent emails.
